Friends, I am in the process of building a website that accepts payments thru paypal and I have the following questions a)I want to accept subscriptions from my customers after the initial signup for it.I read in one of the docs that once a customer clicks on the "Subscribe now" button and does a payment via paypal, paypal keeps on charging the customer the money specified. Now supposing the customer does not have enough money what will happen? My requirement is that I should be able to warn my customer that his account will expire soon. Will I be notified by IPN of these events? b)Well I have an option by which users can upgrade/downgrade their existing memberships? What should i do for this. Regards, Leejo

Check the Subscriptions manual at https://www.paypal.com/pdn

This isn't yet documented but you can create up/downgrade buttons by including modify=1 in the FORM.

a) If the subscriber is unable to pay, PayPal will cancel the subscription.
b) include modify=1 in a sign up button to switch it into an upgrade button.
