I want to implement a system where I can charge a customer 25% upon making a reservation and 75% at the time of checkout. I know I can do this using reference transactions with payments professional, but because my business is small, it would be a significant drain on my resources to have to buy an SSL certificate so that I can have customers enter their credit card number on my site and pay $35 a month for website payments professional.

Can anybody suggest any possible workarounds/solutions to accomplishing what I want to try to accomplish using website payments standard? That would save me several hundred dollars a year on an SSL certificate and several hundred on paypal website payments professional monthly fees.

I appreciate your help!
