IPN verification without XML? Options

I am trying to set up an ASP page that will verify payments, but it looks like my prospetive web host will not have the Microsoft XML parser installed. Two questions... 1. is this usual? are they likely to have it and just don't realise because I'm talking to the wrong person. 2. Is there a way to send the verification request without using the XML parser? Thanks in advance. rh

1. It's possible your host has it installed but not definite. You may need to ask your provider.
2. No.
