ok, I able to send a SetExpressCheckoutRequest. and I get a success message back. now this is where I am lost. what do I do with the xml that came back? I thought paypal was suppose to send it back to my returnURL page? even so, what do I do with it then?

also, I am not able to send everything to paypal, why is this? I can only send the OrderTotal, what heppens to the information like the user and the user id I need?

I understand the process of the whole thing, but not one place it tells you how to deal with the code it sends back.

for newbies, like me, to soap and website payments, it would be good to explain what code to use and how to use the code. sure, learn from the code and make it better, but just giving them the process of how it is done is not helping anybody.

for anybody else that reads this here is a pointer. and the biggest place I got stuck.

although the manual states you don't need to install the sdk, you DO need the files in it. what you do is copy the "Services" folder to your web host and use the apis that are in with it. you will find exmples in teh examples folder in the sdk. go by these to run the DoDirectPayment and DoExPayment api's. this is but one way to do it. the othe rway is to send the xml structure yourself by using cURL (php) then another place where I got stuck is what to do with the response from paypal tha tis in xml format.

hope that helps somebody out there.

good luck
